Thane Crozier Obituary

Thane Hartwell Bruce Crozier died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elliot Lake, Ontario on November 8, 2025 at 88 years of age. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Helen (Jacomb) Crozier, his Chapleau High School sweetheart. Loving father of Laura Crozier (Greg Nowak), Thane (Louise) Crozier, and Keith Crozier (Stephanie Graham). Cherished grandfather of Zachary, Eric, Grace, Myles and Brady. Predeceased by his parents, his stepmother, his five adult siblings and their spouses, and a sister in infancy. He is survived by many nieces and nephews across Canada. Thane was born on September 4, 1937 in Darnley, Prince Edward Island, son of William Bruce and Beatrice White (Campbell) Crozier. Following the death of his young mother, the family moved to Chapleau, a booming railway town in Northern Ontario. This is where he met a grade four classmate, his future wife and best friend, Helen Jacomb. Hard work and perpetual optimism saw Thane graduate from the University of Western Ontario (London, Ontario) and Northwestern University (Chicago, Illinois). Thane had the gift of being able to talk with anybody, and was a gentleman who inspired trust. He was smart, kind and fair which led naturally to a career in human resources at several organizations. He retired in 1999 from his position as Vice President, Corporate Secretary with Canadian Standards Association in Toronto and moved to Elliot Lake with Helen. There he became involved in Trinity United Church, curling, and community volunteering – in particular as Chair of the City’s start-up cottage development commission. Meeting up with Laura, Thane, Keith and his grandchildren at their homes and at the family cottage on Ashby Lake was the highlight of his retirement years. He also enjoyed cruises and regular visits to PEI and Gulf Shores, Alabama. Cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Interment in People’s Cemetery, Malpeque, PEI.
