Robert Honsberger

Robert Bruce Honsberger passed away peacefully on June 8th 2026 at the age of 71 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elliot Lake, ON.

Robert, also known by Bob or Bobby, was born on August 18th 1954 and lived a life marked by adventure, kindness and humour. He was a devoted father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend whose presence touched the lives of many.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister Heather Bates and her husband Gord Bates, daughter, Tasha Denton (Honsberger) and husband John Denton, his daughter Melanie Honsberger, along with his grandchildren, Farrah, Max, Oliver and Leo, his extended family, and wonderful life-long friends.

Bob found joy in reading paperback novels and writing short stories, riding his motorcycle, watching black and white movies, having BBQ’s with his family and friends, going on walks with his dogs and his planned road trips to Florida.
His dream in life was to become a dad, and he was a great one.

He will be remembered for being knowledgeable in every topic, quoting scripture along side classic movie lines, and being able to make people laugh.
Those who knew him will remember his smile, his love for music, the life stories he shared, his gentle wisdom, kindness, and sense of humour. One of his favourite quotes was “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.” And his daughters, Tasha and Melanie, felt like he was the horse sometimes!

One of his favourite scriptures was John 14 verses 2-3: “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses, doctors and caregivers who provided compassionate care during his final days at St. Joseph Hospital. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort knowing that Bob is in heaven with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
