Morrissette, Ralph It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of long-time Elliot Lake resident Ralph Morrissette (AKA "The Candy Man") on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at the age of 86. Ralph is survived by his daughter Joyce Thomson (Rob), grandchildren Arden (Mat) & Barrett, his sister Gail (Ed), his brothers Gerald (Bev, deceased) and Lawrence (Sandra, deceased), and many beloved nieces and nephews. He also maintained a friendship with his ex-wife, Jo Anne, all these years. Ralph was predeceased by his son Mark, his parents Nelson & Gladys, and by his siblings Tom (Aliette), Jim (Marg), Virginia (Francis), Linda (John), Ted (Jeannine) and Ronald (Marella). Ralph was among the final employees to work at Rio Algom before it closed because, as a hoist operator, his position was necessary. Throughout his years, Ralph explored his love of scuba diving, earning his certificate in the 1980s. He also was an avid motorcyclist, usually riding alongside his brothers. He enjoyed collecting sap and making maple syrup, and he could be found singing along to the music at family gatherings once the guitars and harmonicas came out! Many people might have met Ralph as a driver -- he didn't hesitate to take people to appointments or to go shopping. Ralph loved to carry a pocket full of candies wherever he went, giving some to anyone he met. His goal in doing this was to bring a smile to someone's face -- it was his way to spread joy. Service details are: Thursday, January 16th, 2025 at 11:00, at Paroisse Ste Bernadette Parish, 45 Spruce Avenue, Elliot Lake, ON. Many, many thanks to Doctors Purzner, Groh, and Wannan, as well as ALL of the nursing & support staff who attended to Ralph during his illness. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in memory of Ralph Morrissette to the St Joseph's General Hospital or to any other charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Alternative Funeral Services
