Marcel Joseph Prevost

Marcel Joseph Prevost, 79, of Elliot Lake, passed away on August 3rd, 2023 after a short battle with cancer with his family at his side, at St. Josephs General Hospital. Marcel was born on May 6th, 1944, in Montreal, Quebec, to Leo and Amanda Prevost. He joined the military at age 18 for a brief time before moving to Kitchener, Ontario where he met his future wife, Suzanne Vallee. They married in 1971, and eventually relocated to Elliot Lake after stops in Sarnia and Cobourg. Together they raised their two boys, Marc and Stephen.

Marcel worked at Panel Mine in Elliot Lake from 1979 until it closed in 1990. In the 80s, he truly enjoyed his time coaching minor hockey. His passion was his family and the outdoors. Anyone who knew him appreciated his sense of humour. He loved to laugh and could spend hours shooting the breeze with anyone.

Marcel was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Amanda Prevost of Fredericton New Brunswick and his wife of 32 years Suzanne. He is survived by sons Marc (Marcia) of Elliot Lake, ON, and Stephen (Tammy) of Kirkland Lake, ON, grandchildren Micheal, Molly, Mary Beth, Sarah, Sabrina, Matthew, Samantha and Makayla. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews, many other relatives, friends, fur babies and his dear friend Betty Piercey of Kirkland Lake, ON.

A celebration of Marcel’s life will occur on August 19, 2023 at 582 Dunlop Shores Road from 1pm till 4pm.
