Louise Poitras

Poitras, Louise Louise Lecompte Poitras, passed peacefully at home, on Friday February 6 th, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends. Loving wife to Marcel Poitras (1939 – 2002) and James Villemare (1965- 2025). Mother to Mario (Michelle), Rob (Mary), Jason (Laurie). Grandmother of Danielle (Cory), Eric (Nadine), Michel (Alycia), Joseph (Larissa), Emily (Chad), Maxime, Zachary and Nicolas. Great Grandmother to Maddux, Parker and Calum. Louise loved life, friends and family were important, travel arts and bingo. Dedicated to her community, she worked as a social worker for 30 years and was on the Board of Directors for the Indigenous friendship Centre. Special thanks to Christine Lewis and Joanne Cyr for the great care given to Louise over the last few months. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Alternative Funeral Services. Friends and family are welcome to gather at Theoret Bourgeois Funeral Home 119 King Street Sturgeon Falls, ON P2B 1R2 on Saturday March 21, 2026 from 10 until time of service. A memorial services will all so be held at the Enji-maawinjidiyaang Indigenous Friendship Centre in Elliot Lake on Sunday March 22, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Oncology Department at St Joseph’s general Hospital, Elliot Lake.
