Linda Davis Obituary

Linda passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 12, 2023, at the age of ninety-four years. She was predeceased by her loving husband Alan Davis of 55 years and her brother Johannes. Linda was born in Veski Estonia to Augustus and Alvine Kittus. She grew up on their family farm until WW2, leaving her home as a refugee in 1944 and immigrating to Canada in 1948. Linda was alone, separated from her country and her family, without resources or English skills. Yet, she persevered eventually finding work in Toronto at an insurance firm where she met Alan. They were married 1956, and in 1958 they moved to Elliot Lake and opened an independent insurance business. Upon retirement, Linda and Alan moved to Massey River Road where they thoroughly enjoyed farm life. Linda was an active member of the Women’s Institute in Massey and a celebrated handicraft artist. She was an avid skier introducing the sport to Alan and the rest of her family. She loved cross-country skiing around Massey and Elliot Lake. In her later years she could be seen pushing her beloved kick sleigh on Elliot Lake. Linda shared her love of nature and animals with her children who keep her traditions alive with their own families. Linda is survived by her children Paul (Brenda), Ken, Peggy, her grandchildren Leena (Nayden), Cory (Josie), Daria, Dreyden, Mia (Evan), Martin (Amber), and her great-grandchildren, Mila, Violet, Marley, Hendrix, Nixon, and Nash. A special thank you to Huron Lodge and all the staff for their loving care and support. Donations to S.A.D. (Elliot Lake Society for Animals in Distress) or the Equipment Fund at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elliot Lake are gratefully accepted. A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a later date. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Alternative Funeral Services.
