Khammay Saetang

August 31, 2021

After a long battle with cancer, our beloved mother Khammay Saetang (nee Sangsyavong) born January 6, 1947, at the age of 74 has gently passed in her home on August 31, 2021 surrounded by family. She has left the fight to be with her husband Hoa Tang, son Sysay, and parents and siblings in Theveda(heaven) She is survived by her sister Khamkai and nieces and nephews in Laos, along with her daughters Dokmay Fraser (spouse Bruce)of Cutler, Ontario grandchildren Curtis and Isabella, Vilay Saetang (spouse Doug)of Toronto, Ontario, grandchildren Luna, Star & Sky and their sisters Phang Luong (spouse Young)of Brampton, Ontario, grandchildren-David, Jennifer & Kelly, Pang Kan (spouse Kong)of Edmonton, Alberta, grandchildren Sunny and Jasmine. Khammay was born in Savannakhet, Laos met and married Hoa Tang of China, where they brought their children to Canada in 1980, in search of new beginnings. Khammay was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to taking care of family with her love of cooking spicy foods. There was always dinner for her Curtis. She always made sure everyone was fed before she herself ate, that was her way. She had a love for animals bringing home monkeys, parrots and doe, and of music and enjoyed her Laos/Thai music videos which her youngest granddaughter always set up for grandma. She never needed a special occasion to provide gifts to family here and back home. Khammay never let cancer stopped her from living her life of caring for others. To the end she was a fighter and will be sadly missed by all. We love you very much. Mom did not want a service just that she is to be cremated and ashes to be with husband and son. She lived her life as she wanted right to the end always taking care of us. We are grateful for the hospital staff and doctors at Health Science North, at Joseph’s hospital in Elliot Lake and Blind River. A special thank you to Dr. Cano for his kindness and resourceful ways, to Stacey and Chris at the Chemo ward who made mom feel like it was not a long visit at all with their chats, to Dr Stirling who made time for mom, to Dr Gieves who was helpful and the emergency team and paramedics who worked hard throughout the pandemic. So many health care to name and in every hospital. Funeral assisted by Alternative
