It is with profound sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Julie Ann Valiquette of Elliot Lake on September 27th, 2025, at the age of 63 years young. She was the beloved wife of Roger Valiquette for 45 years, devoted to each other and to their beautiful black Labs: Einstein, Mulder and Floyd. Julie was a beloved sister to Jim Minorgan (Laurie) and sister-in-law to Susan Doucet (John) and Aline Toso (Mario). She is remembered as the fun-loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Julie maintained close ties with her cousins throughout her life. She is predeceased by her mother, Jean Doherty (nee Matthews) and stepfather, Lionel Doherty. Julie lived with her mother in Chatsworth, Ontario until the age of 10 when they moved to Elliot Lake to live with Lionel. There she established lifelong friends and eventually met her future husband. She and Roger married on July 26, 1980 and so their love story began. They lived in Marathon from 1990 to 2018, forming close friendships and enjoying cottage life, eventually returning to Elliot Lake. Julie was known for her many talents: artist, crafter, avid gardener, baker, passionate chef and extraordinary hostess. Yes, she took themed parties to the next level. Being with Julie was like receiving a warm hug. She had an infectious laugh, a warm heart, generosity and kindness in abundance. She was the most beautiful human being. There are no words to express the sadness and devastation of her unexpected passing. She was very loved in life and will continue to be loved forever and always. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to Furever Homes and Lodging (Society for Animals in Distress), 37 Timber Road, Elliot Lake (timber372023@outlook.com) or the Ontario Humane Society.
