This is to let people know Jolan Miglecz has passed away at the age of 102 years. Jolan came to Canada from Hungary in the early 60s. Her brother came here first & then sent for her. Jolan was orphaned at a very early age & her aunt took her in & raised her. She was a very good care giver & Jolan truly loved her. Jolan worked for a Hungarian couple in Toronto keeping house & raising their 3 children with the stipulation that she spoke Hungarian in the home to ensure the children grew up knowing the Hungarian language so those vital years when she would have learned English soon vanished. She married her husband (Bela) a very nice Hungarian man when she was in her early 40s. They were married for 28 years until he passed away in 1997. Shortly after his passing Jolan moved to Elliot lake with other Hungarian friends who eventually also passed away leaving her with very little English. She managed on her own with friends from the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall helping her. She also had help from ones she fondly called the Lodge Ladies. There were many over the years. She was always generous with them. She would want me to thank them & also doctor Wannan for taking good care of her over the yrs. Also the hospital staff were very good with her many times. See you in the new world Jolan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Alternative Funeral Services.
