John Barker, aged 76, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's General Hospital in Elliot Lake on May 22nd. Brother of Donald and his late wife Mary, and Uncle of Ruth (Brian), Lorne, and Glenn (Jessica).
John was predeceased by his parents Mabel and Lorne Barker.
John lived much of his life in Woodbridge, but also lived in Ottawa and Cambridge before moving to Elliot Lake 24 years ago.
He became involved in the Elliot Lake Astronomy Club, the Field Naturalist Club, and especially in the Elliot Lake Computer Club, volunteering his time assisting and teaching seniors how to use a computer.
A very special thank you to Alberta and Ron and the caring staff at Hillside Park Retirement Residence for the care they provided for John. Also thank you to Bob Young for helping and supporting John.
At John's own request, there will be no service. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to Diabetes Canada or St. Joseph's General Hospital in Elliot Lake.
