Jean-Paul Raymond Jean-Paul Raymond, 92, of Blind River, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the North Shore Health Network in Blind River. Born on January 24, 1934, to Hermas and Lucy Raymond, Jean-Paul remained a proud lifelong resident of Blind River, deeply rooted in the community he loved. Jean-Paul lived a full and hardworking life, guided by determination, resourcefulness, and an unwavering dedication to providing for his family. He purchased his first logging truck at just 15 years of age, beginning a lifetime of varied and ambitious endeavours. Over the years, he worked at the local lumber mill, operated a working cattle farm, owned and ran the Black Creek Store on Highway 129, worked as a trapper, and built numerous homes for families throughout Blind River. His hands and efforts helped shape much of the community around him, and his work ethic was admired by all who knew him. Jean-Paul is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Gloria Raymond, and will be forever remembered as a kind, strong, protective, and supportive husband and father. He was the devoted father of Leo Raymond (predeceased), Jeannette Somers (Gerry Somers), and Kenneth Raymond (Fiona Mair). He was the cherished Papa of Shawn Raymond, Shane Raymond, Ashley Wilson, Chantelle Petryk, and Jessica Raymond, and the proud great-grandfather of six great-grandchildren. His quick wit, humour, and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at the North Shore Health Network for the exceptional care and support they provided. In keeping with Jean-Paul’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Shore Health Network in his memory. His legacy of hard work, love, and quiet strength will live on through his family and the community he helped build. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Alternative Funeral Services Elliot Lake.
