Scott, John Morris : passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elliot Lake, ON, after a brief illness. Jack, in his 85th year, beloved husband of Myrna for over 63 years, cherished father of Sheldon (Robyn), Blair (Kelly), and Kevin, predeceased by daughter Phyllis (2012); loving grandfather of 13, great-grandfather of 11. He will be greatly missed by his sister Carol Wallingford (George deceased), brother Robert “Bobby” Scott (MaryJane), brother-in-law Ralph Pearse (Helen), sister-in-law Bette-Anne Fryar (Joe deceased), his aunt Phyllis Baldwin, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jack was born to John and Betty Scott on April 26, 1938 in Kirkland Lake, ON. He grew up in Virginiatown, ON, but his fondest memories were of spending summers with his grandparents on the Baldwin family farm. He left home at a young age, joined the reserves, and by 1955 had joined the military. He served for a few years overseas as a peacekeeper in Israel and Egypt, visiting several famous sights such as Damascus, the Pyramids of Egypt and most importantly Joseph’s Tomb where he had an experience that would lead to his life-long relationship with Christ. Upon returning home, while visiting with his sister, Jack met Myrna Pearse and the couple were married on September 9, 1959 at the Elliot Lake Baptist Church. They began their family in Pembroke, ON and then moved to Windsor, ON, where Jack worked for Chrysler while studying instrumentation at St. Clair College. After graduating, the family moved to Elliot Lake where he worked at Dennison Mines for a number of years before starting his own trucking business. They spent several years living in Thompson Township where they made many special friends from the Gospel Fellowship Church in Iron Bridge. Jack enjoyed photography, and was always the one that would take pictures when family and friends were getting together. He also loved to take photographs of wildlife and scenery. Most of all, he enjoyed good visits with the many close friends he had developed over the years; whether it was around the kitchen table at home, or at McDonalds, it was always good conversation and lots of laughs. A Memorial Service will be held at the Elliot Lake Baptist Church, 20 Roman Ave, Elliot Lake, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Phillip Carlson officiating. All are welcome.
