Heinz Georg Sczyrba was born in Lunen, Germany, March 14, 1947 to parents Inge Dirksmeier and Georg Sczyrba. Heinz passed away peacefully at his home, in Elliot Lake on June 25, 2022. He was 75 years old. Heinz immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his Mother and eventually settled in the Kitchener region of Ontario. Heinz married Annelies Van den Berg December 20th, 1975 and they shared many years together, very much enjoying their children. Heinz is remembered with much love by his wife, Ann Sczyrba, and his children, Stefan Sczyrba, Roland Sczyrba, and Monica Sczyrba-Davis and son-in-law Rick Davis. Heinz was a wonderful Opa to his grand-children Anabelle and Angelyn Davis. Heinz leaves behind his brother, Rolf Dirksmeier, sister-in-law, Edeltraud Dirksmeier, his niece Jenny Wenner and nephew Roland Dirksmeier.
Heinz was an adventurous soul who enjoyed cooking, photography, canoeing, flying, fishing and building. Heinz was a Fitter by trade, but his true passion was building; from drafting the plans through to shingling the rooftop. Heinz created and built, largely on his own, two beautiful and unique homes in Ontario. Heinz achieved his private pilot’s license in his 40’s and loved the freedom of flight.
Heinz made a priority of visiting his children who all flew far from the nest. He cherished those relationships and shared many outdoor adventures in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. Heinz loved nothing more than cooking for the people he cared most about and loved to share stories. Heinz will be remembered for his generosity, intense work ethic and for sharing his love of the outdoors with his family.
A private celebration of life will be held in time.
