George Demas Aubé passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in the early hours of December 17th, 2022. He was born on December 12th, 1936, in Bathurst, New Brunswick, to Reginald and Ita (nee Grant) Aubé. His career as an Industrial Mechanic took him from Bathurst to Elliot Lake in 1958, where he met his future wife Peggy (née Berry). After marrying in 1964 and continuing his career in the mill at Denison Mines, he moved to Birch Road, where he would stay to raise his family and make lifelong friends.
Survived by his cherished wife Peggy, George was a loving father of his son Shawn – predeceased (Tammy) and daughter Kim (Trevor). Proud Grandfather to Austin (Sarah), Fred (Kelsey), Jackson, and Ewan. Loving Great-Grandfather to Finn, Link, Shawn, and Nova.
George had a big personality and, in his younger years, could often be heard telling jokes and stories while fishing or hunting with his close buddies or during the many gatherings of friends at his home on Birch Rd. A soft-hearted and gentle dad and Poppa with a vast appreciation for all outdoor activities, nature, and environmental causes. He was strong in his Faith and continued to crave the ocean back home in New Brunswick at the Bay of Chaleur.
A memorial service will be held on Monday January 2nd, 2023 at 11AM at Ste Bernadette Parish in Elliot Lake.
In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to the Equipment Fund for St Joseph’s Hospital in Elliot Lake. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-josephs-foundation-of-elliot-lake/
