Betty Louise Rodney July 9, 1923 – August 19, 2021 Mom passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Manor in Elliot Lake at the age of 98. She was predeceased by husband Frank (1970), daughter Nina-Jean (1952) and son Darcy (2010). She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mabel Amiro (nee Sharpe) . She is survived by her children Lawrence (Jean), Emy (ex husband Ken), Heather (James) and daughter-in-law Cathryn (late Darcy). Grandchildren Scott, Jim, Koryn (Steve), Taryn, Evan and Mason; Great Grandchildren Tiffany (Nick), Ashley and Brodie, 3 Great, Great Grandchildren Thomas, Gabriella and Penelope and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with her mother and sister, Betty was a WW2 riveter with Victory Aircraft in Malton, ON helping to build Lancaster Heavy Bombers. Mom started selling Avon in 1951 in Binbrook, Ontario and continued selling for more than 60 years after the family moved to Elliot Lake on July 9, 1957. For many years she won awards and trips to cities in Canada, USA, Europe and the Caribbean as one of the top sellers across Canada, but her passion was square dancing. Every other year, in a different province, she would travel to a National Square Dance Convention. Our family would like to thank everyone at St. Joseph’s Manor for the care and compassion shown to her. At mom’s request a simple cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time. If anyone would like to make a donation in memory of Betty Rodney, you can do so by cheque payable to St. Joseph’s Foundation of Elliot Lake or on line at sjgh.ca.
