Bouchard, Ange-Emile (1936-2025)
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend Emile Bouchard passed away on Tuesday, December 2nd in his hometown of Elliot Lake, after a battle with dementia.
Born on October 2nd, 1936, Emile’s life was dedicated to nurturing his family, being at one with nature and the forest and creating a full life for himself and those around him. Emile came to Elliot Lake in 1958, before the town fully existed, to take a job at Denison Mines. In 1960 he married his beloved wife, Sarah. Together they raised 3 children and then raised 3 more in their grandchildren. Emile’s life was very much connected to his endless energy for work, whether that was his work at the mine or endless engagement in fixing and building all manner of things for himself, his family and any neighbour that asked, hunting and fishing, delivering Meals on Wheels and doing whatever needed to be done with his trademark quiet focus and amazing sense of humour.
Emile is survived by his dear wife of 65 years, Sarah (nee Soucy), his daughters Sylvie (Mark) and Guylaine (Glenn), his 7 grandchildren Blaine, Kelly (Hollie & Amilja), Joshua, Dylan (Terri & Ethan), Devyn (Matt), Travis and Grayson, his 2 great-grandchildren Sophie and Juliette, three brothers Robert, Roland and Maurice and countless friends and community members who were touched by his energy and generosity. He was predeceased by his son, Gilles. Emile’s family takes great comfort in knowing they are hunting and fishing together once again.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests that those able consider a donation to the St. Joseph Manor in Elliot Lake or the Alzheimer’s Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Alternative Funeral Services.
